BREAKING NEWS: Shea Porter gets nod from Pelosi to unveil Dem healthcare takeover plan

If voting for Pelosi’s partisan agenda 97% of the time didn’t convince you that Carol Shea-Porter is Pelosi’s puppet, then today’s news should.
Her partisan loyalty earned her a top spot in the unveiling of the Democrats’ trillion dollar healthcare legislation, a bill that cuts Medicare, raises taxes and forces millions of Americans to find a new doctor. Unfortunately, New Hampshire voters who hoped she’d oppose government-run healthcare are yet again disappointed by CarolSource: GraniteGrok RSS Feed

An Update in New Jersey (10/29/09)

Further north in New Jersey, the race for governor is shaping up to be a potential all-nighter. [Well, we have to have at least one every election cycle, I suppose. It won’t be in New York City or Virginia.] FHQ will resist the urge to say that Corzine has comeback from the dead in this contest. Sure, the governor has inched up slightly of late, but he can’t claim to have momentum other than to say that the race is tighter in a traditionally blue state. Fine, that could be considered momentumSource: 2008 Democratic Convention Watch RSS Feed

The Most Insane News Story Of The Decade

When conservative people question the creeping invasion of Big Brother Government into our lives telling us what to do you usually get some moderate Democrats wondering what is all the fuss about. They pull out some harmless or good examples of government as if government could do no harm. After all, the place is run by a bunch of Robin Hoods – right?

Well, today we have the perfect example of Big Brother Government run amok. Even when I read it I thought it had to be a joke it wasSource: The Strata-Sphere RSS Feed

Crazy times on the Gowanus Canal

From the NY Times:
The Bloomberg administration, sensing a chance for revitalization, rushed to rezone 25 blocks of the Gowanus area for nonindustrial uses, identifying more than 60 development sites with a potential to generate at least $500 million in tax revenue. It didn’t appear to be a deterrent that the canal was, quite literally, still something of a cesspool. A Word From a New Sponsor

You’ll notice a new ad at the top of the blog and I want to introduce the advertiser:

When my dad’s condition began to worsen we realized that we were going to have to deal with some issues we had hoped would be put off for a few more years. He realized that his time was short and his number one concern was making sure mom was taken care of and could continue to live in their house once he was gone.
I had heard the term “reverse mortgage”, but didn’t know anything about it.Source: HolyCoast.com RSS Feed

ODAC | It is hard to know where to begin regarding Ambrose Evans-Pritchard’s article entitled “Energy crisis is postponed as new gas rescues the world.” But since the speculative world he invokes has more to with Alice In Wonderland than the hard reality of engineering and science, let us begin – at the end.
Evans-Pritchard caps his evangelistic encomium with this: “I am not qualified to judge where gas excitement crosses into hyperbole. I pass on the story because the claims of BP and Source: subrealism RSS Feed
